Master teacher-training course in Special Education (special schools)

Masters teacher-training course in Special Education (special schools)

In the Masters, the study of the teaching subjects and course specialisations from the “Bachelor course based on Education Sciences (special schools)” is continued and examined in greater detail under didactic and methodological principles. In addition, the students’ knowledge of general special educational studies are broadened in terms of content.

A total of 120 credits are acquired, which are distributed as follows:

  • Course Specialisation: Learning Difficulties or Social and Emotional Development: 17 Credits
  • Course Specialisation: chosen option: 18 Credits
  • Teacher Training Components: 6 Credits
  • First Teaching Subject: 17 Credits
  • Second Teaching Subject: 17 Credits
  • Practical Semester: 25 Credits
  • Masters Thesis: 20 Credits

 

Practical Semester

  • A total of 5 months completed in integrated learning environment or in schools specialising in the course specialisation; accompanied in terms of content by theory and practice modules (TPM).

Master teacher-training course in Special Education (secondary and vocational schools)

If the special educational specialisation in the Bachelor was studied as a supplementary subject, it will be continued with at an equal proportion in the Masters as a second teaching subject. If it was chosen as a core subject, it is continued as a first teaching subject with a lesser proportion of study.  In the Masters,  the study of the chosen course specialisation is continued in greater detail. In the Masters for teaching at vocational colleges (second teaching subject), a introductory studies for a further course specialisation can be undertaken or a rehabilitation educational specialisation chosen. 

 

A total of 120 credits are acquired, which are distributed as follows:

  • Teacher Training Components: 11 Credits
  • First Teaching Subject: 32 Credits
  • Second Teaching Subject: 32 Credits
  • Practical Semester: 25 Credits
  • Masters Thesis: 20 Credits

 

Work Experience Placements

  • A total of 6 weeks
  • A practical phase is completed at a school specialising in the chosen course specialisation
  • for the Bachelor / Masters studies oriented around a teaching qualification for vocational schools, a further 52 weeks of professionally-oriented placements have to be completed, of which a minimum of 27 weeks must have been documented by the registration for the first state exam.
