ERASMUS MUNDUS Programerasmus mundus

Information:

The Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity, is a postgraduate university program, providing a state –of-the-art on research and teaching methodology in Adapted Physical Activity (APA); and the social, pedagogical and technical aspects of physical activity, adapted to the needs of persons with a disability. The objective of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity program is to combine the competencies of a number of European universities in order to offer the students a comprehensive training and adequate knowledge in the many aspects of Adapted Physical Activity (APA).

Scholarships:

10 months x EUR 1,400per month PLUS a fixed amount for tuition fee of 7000 Euro. This amounts to a yearly total of EUR 21,000 per student.

EUDAPA

European University Diploma in Adapted Physical Activtiy

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

are defined through competencies, skills and attitudes the student has or will gain. The student acts equal way to all people in her/his actions. She/he is able to take into consideration the qualities of different individuals when planning, organizing and carrying out sports activities. She/he wants and is able organize physical activity to different people in inclusive settings, whenever it is possible and makes sense. The student is able to adapt school curriculum in physical education to reflect current conditions and the needs of all students with special needs in physical education. (EIPET 2009) The student is aware of the risk factors of health and physical activity and is able to give counseling in these matters. She/he is able to take into consideration factors connected to contacts and interaction in individual and group activity. She/he is familiar with special questions concerning apa administration. Through creativity she/he is able to bring new elements to adapted physical activity – to continue adapting. STRUCTURE * Step 1. 10 ects. Studies of apa at home university. * Step 2. 30 ects. Intensive 3 months in Finland at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. (in English) * Step 3. 20 ects. Apa-related 12 week work-training in a foreign country. The diploma is granted by the home university.

EUDAPA CONTENTS
  • theoretical and practical lectures from the leading apa-experts in Europe and in Finland

  • some visits to finnish institutions (e.g. rehabilitation center, prison, psychiatric hospital)

  • 3-4 practical projects, in which students will try the theoretical things they have learned in to practice (John Dewey: Learning by Doing).

Funding is based to Erasmus/Socrates agreements between Haaga-Helia UAS and the participating university. A special agreement for EUDAPA will be made. This will make it possible to the sending university to support financially the participating student (and teacher as well). Haaga-Helia UAS will provide the Finnish experts .

Costs for a student for accommodation from 31.1.-30.4.2011 in double rooms in a flat with 2 rooms + joint kitchen + joint bathroom is about 300 €/month. Student lunch at the university is 2,70 €. For the inclusive winter-sports week some extra 100-200 € is needed for transportation & lodging. The education itself is free.

ELIGIBILITY for a student:
  • at least 10 ects of apa (or apa-related) studies at home university
  • sufficient/good knowledge of English
  • the students home university and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences has to have a bilateral Erasmus/Socrates agreement
